Question

Are the Yellow Patches on My Homegrown Potatoes Safe to Eat?

My potatoes have yellow patches on them when peeled, are they okay to eat? They are homegrown.

Answer

It sounds like you have probably grown a variety that produced a yellow-tinged interior, which is common in many potato varieties. As long as the flesh is firm and free of decay you should be able to prepare the potatoes as desired.

Dr. Potato isn't a real doctor but a team of potato experts ready to answer all your potato questions.
