Question
Why don’t Idaho Potatoes have the non-GMO seal/certification on the bag?
The few Idaho potatoes that even come close to being GMO are marketed as ‘White Russets.’ These are technically ‘innate’ and are required to be identified as such on the carton or consumer bag. The overwhelming majority of Idaho potatoes, however, are not GMO, so there is no need or requirement for such labels. Similarly, potatoes don’t need to be labeled as ‘Cholesterol Free’ or ‘Gluten Free’ either – for the same reason. Just pure, home-grown Idaho potatoes!
